I don’t have my rulebook handy but I’m pretty sure that contact made against an opponent inbounding the ball constitutes an intentional foul??? Like I said I’m not sure. Does the guy say at 1:30 that he would get a warning and THEN it would be a T? I don’t believe so…I know for sure that if he’s talking about contacting the ball across the boundary it’s an automatic technical…no warning

  • 47split says:

If a player reaches across boundary line without touching anything- warning, if team is already warned, technical foul.

If a player reaches through boundary line and touches ball-technical foul, no warning given.

Reaches through boundary line and touches player after the ball has been put at his disposal-Intentional personal foul.

Very evident that I’m not a referee huh….you give a warning if a defender reaches through the boundary plane and contacts the inbounder? Where in the hell did you come up with that one? I’m a member of the NFHS, and as 47split explains in his response, I was exactly right in my ruling on the situation. If you can find in the NFHS books where you WARN a player who contacts a thrower first before you call him for an intentional foul I would love for you to give the reference. Dumbass

  • chanmancut says:

So….a simple “you’re right” would have sufficed. Isn’t what you’re describing exactly what I said?

  • chanmancut says:

First of all, I just began my 6th season as a high school basketball official. Second, you started in with the sarcastic comments about me by asking how I got a rule book and thus showing your non-support of officials. So play by your own rules.
I’m sorry I have to spell this out to you, but you don’t seem too bright so I guess I have to– “47split” is the username of the person that commented below my 1st post, not a page in the rulebook-DUMBASS

  • chanmancut says:

Still waiting for the reference to the boundary plane-infracting foul warning. I have my rulebooks right here by my computer so I can look it up and verify it once you provide me with the reference. I haven’t bothered looking for it because I know it’s not in there; I’m just curious to see what you’re going to be able to find in your search. If you’re right and I’m wrong I will admit it and administer it that way in my games from this point forward. Let me know what you find and good luck:)

  • purdue2009 says:

actually read your post wrong, yea if you make incidental contact with the person thats a warning, I thought you meant the basketball.

  • 47split says:

Me and chanmancut are correct. Page 56 & 57 of the NFHS basketball rulebook rule 9-2-10 and penalties for article 10 specifies contacting the thrower is an intentional personal NO WARNING (penalties article 10 #4, p. 57).
